What if the rest of your life was going to be determined by the actions you took yesterday? Would that be good news or bad? Would you be excited about your future?
What if the rest of your life was going to be determined by the actions you take today? Would you repeat what you did yesterday or would you make some changes, up your game in order to create a future you really want?
Gretchen Rubin writes,
“Habits are the invisible architecture of daily life. We repeat about 40 percent of our behavior almost daily, so our habits shape our existence, and our future. If we change our habits, we change our lives.”
The sum of our daily actions, over time, really does determine our future, yet we don’t take too seriously the impact our habits have. We occasionally try to break a bad habit or two, but don’t concede that our lack of success is ebbing away at the life we want to live.
Jim Rohn summed it up so well when he said,
“Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines, practiced every day.”
Will your daily disciplines lead you to the life you want? Or will they ensure that money will always be tight, relationships will continue to be broken, and life will never quite measure up to our dreams? The little things really do matter.
“How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.” Annie Dillard
How will you spend today?
